Aldo Leopold Nature Center programs

So, I had to laugh...

I logged onto the Aldo Leopold Nature Center website this morning to find out what's new there, and who appears on the page covering "Leopold Discovery Day (3/2/08)," but my daughter - standing there with the Leopold dude himself!

"The mission of the Aldo Leopold Nature Center is to ...teach the student to see the land, understand what he sees, and enjoy what he understands." in the spirit of famed Wisconsin conservationist, Aldo Leopold. Through hands-on, guided experiences, children and adults come to discover and explore the wonders of the natural world!"

The ALNC is located in Monona at 300 Femrite Drive. They offer the following types of classes and activities. (Look under the "Family & Community Programs" tab on the website for more information.)
  • Summer Camp - The 2008 summer camp options are not yet posted, but my daughter attended a summer camp last year. Fabulous & highly recommended.
  • Vacation Day programs - school vacation day? ALNC offers a fun & educational option!
  • Overnighters - Activities include a night hike, star gazing, nighttime snack around the campfire, and light breakfast the following morning. (Highly recommended.)
  • Drop-in and public programs - ***FUN: Maple Syrup Fest on 3/30/08***
  • School field trips
If you have never visited the ALNC, now is the time to take your children out into nature!
