UW Space Place & Annual Physics Fair

Workshops at the UW-Space Place

Space Place family workshops are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m. for children ages 6-10 and their parents. The workshops are free and open to the public. No registration is required for any of the workshops.

February 7• "Cleaning with Taco Sauce"
Can taco sauce really clean tarnished pennies? Discover whether or not this works and which ingredients really do the cleaning.

February 14 • "NO WORKSHOP"
Join us instead at the 2nd Annual Physics Fair on the UW campus. See below under "Special Events" for more information.

February 21 • "Science is Fun"
Join the UW-Madison Chemistry Department for hands-on experiments and activities!

Celebrate Galileo's birthday with music, food, wine, and stars!
Sunday, February 15• 4:30 am-6:30 pm

The Space Place, together with the Madison Early Music Festival, Slow Food Madison, Culinary History Enthusiasts of Wisconsin, and The Wine Boutique, invites you to a reception in honor of the 445th anniversary of Galileo's birth. Savor Renaissance-period culinary delights, sample Italian wines, enjoy a performance of early Italian music, and turn your eyes to the heavens for stargazing through the Space Place telescope. Admission is $35, payable at the door. All proceeds from the event will benefit the MEMF's 10th anniversary season.

2nd Annual Physics Fair

A UW Physics Department Open House

You are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Physics Fair! This will be an open house in which members of the public can come to learn about the research and teaching that are a part of our department. The Physics Fair will include laboratory tours, hands-on demonstrations, activities for kids and families, and informal conversations with scientists. We will have exhibits representing research groups in the department as well as displays on more general physics topics. Additionally, the Ingersoll Physics Museum will be open and the 26th Annual Wonders of Physics public presentations will take place.

When? Saturday, February 14, 2009
Drop in anytime from 11 am - 4 pm.
Where? Chamberlin Hall, UW-Madison Campus, 1150 University Ave., Madison, WI 53706
Free parking is available in Lots 17, 20, & 21
